Editorial Policy

This page explains how Crafterify guides are researched, written and kept up to date.

How we choose topics

We write about specific problems renters search for, like a closet that’s too shallow for hangers or a sink cabinet split in half by a drain pipe. We look at the questions people actually ask and try to answer them more clearly and more completely than what’s already out there.

How we research

  • We work from standard dimensions for furniture, mattresses, cabinets and rooms, and we note when sizes vary.
  • We check product types and their limits, such as weight ratings for adhesive hooks and tension rods, against manufacturer information.
  • We draw our own diagrams and floor plans to scale. Photos on the site are either our own or used under a license that allows it.
  • We don’t claim to have personally tested a product unless we have.

How articles are written and reviewed

Every guide is written and edited by our editorial team. We may use digital tools, including writing and research software, to help organize notes or check drafts, but a person reviews every article for accuracy, clarity and usefulness before it’s published.

Independence

We don’t accept payment to cover a product or to write a favorable review. If we ever add affiliate links, we’ll label them clearly and say so on the page where they appear. The site is supported by advertising, and advertisers have no say in what we write.

Renter safety and limits

Our guides are general information. Leases and local rules differ, so check yours before making any change to a rental. For anything involving electrical work, gas or plumbing repairs, contact your landlord or a licensed professional.

Corrections and updates

If we find an error, or a reader reports one, we fix it and update the date on the article. To report a mistake, use our contact page.
